![]() ![]() Her videos are literal ass and she knows nothing of what shes talking about but shes popular because other white people also dont know. There is a woman, whose name i shall not mention, who is very famous on youtube who teaches hoodoo and voodoo. ![]() Having two fictional characters use it in a film is fine, but as far as real life goes I wish white people would leave it alone.Īnd this isn't coming from a space of prejudice, its just that because a lot of the religion is passed down in families, or amongst practioners who have been practicing for centuries, and very few of the information is written down, what happens is that white people come in, knowing nothing about this religion, having no connection to it or hte culture and then start not only changing shit but then trying to teach it to others as if the BS they are saying is truthful and this makes it very hard for people of the culture or people who are interested int he culture to find accurate information. So I don't personally approve of white people using it. I'm not the person you responded to but i too am Black and I would like to answer: I'm just trying to help.īut I don't really intend to say much more about it anywhere online because even if I try to help, I get people upset. I purposely stay out of it because I'm not part of the culture. The fact that it's interesting is one reason I read into it but the main reason is because I wanted to be able to prove it was wrong to keep using in the movies/show/books/comics. I'm not the only outsider who will have looked into it because of this franchise so at least I'm being respectful and I don't treat it like mythology like most outsiders who talk about it do. I'm trying to say what he's doing is wrong. It has never been my intention to look too in-depth of it, even the woman who I learned some things from on YouTube said that it was for people of her culture to practice and that outsiders could not call upon who they wanted and receive a response like those who were born into it, which why I'm mad that Mancini keeps it in the franchise. You're not alone, most people would think that way and I can't blame them but I do believe that it's alright for anyone to try and educate themselves on Damballa as long as they're respectful, they don't go into much and don't try to practice anything themselves. ![]() That may be a blessing in disguise though. I worry that he'll put Damballa in a bad light or he won't touch on it again at all. I didn't consider it a debt so much though, I thought it was something one would have to offer, like an action but I also haven't looked into the darker side of Voodoo.ĭon could use a good writer who actually knows about Voodoo on this, yes but so far, he doesn't give a damn which is typical. I thought that one must give something in return. ![]() I see, I misunderstood some things I've heard. These aren't things they should mess with casually, it's offensive. I've only studied some to educate myself and I respect almost every religion. If it's frustrating for me, I can only imagine how frustrating it is for people who practice Voodoo. I know Doctor Death was a good man who said that Charles used what he taught him for evil, that's the only time they insinuated that Voodoo can do good things too but so many people in this world don't even realize that Voodoo is a religion and not fictional magic. One lady I saw on this sub long ago was upset and saw how they write things sacreligeous. I do wish they would take Damballa more seriously. ![]()
